WHERE DID HYPNOBIRTHING COME FROM

Hypnobirthing originated from the practice of Dr Grantly Dick-Reid and his book – Childbirth Without Fear (published in 1933).  He suggests that when we experience fear during childbirth, our body diverts essential oxygenated blood away from our uterus to our defence organs, preventing our body from functioning efficiently, without pain. If we remain calm and relaxed, our uterine muscles aren’t starved of the blood and oxygen we need for them to work effectively.
